Umesh Patel

Associate Director, Corporate Research Alliances

Umesh is a part of the alliances team, where he helps large organizations develop long-term, strategic research engagements with the University of Michigan.

Prior to joining Innovation Partnerships at the University of Michigan, Umesh was Senior Director at the U-M Business Engagement Center where he worked closely with industry partners, students, faculty, and schools and colleges, to build partnerships around the University’s research, education, and service missions. Umesh came to the University from management consulting firm Accenture, where he was a Senior Manager designing, implementing, and managing organizational, process, and technology change for large industrial and government clients. Prior to joining Accenture, Umesh was a Project Engineer with Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he designed and developed electrical control equipment, and provided technical and quality support to manufacturing plants and customers.

Umesh holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University.
