John is a Biomedical Innovation Specialist at U-M Innovation Partnerships.  In this role, he supports the Kickstart early-stage funding program in the Michigan Translational Research and Commercialization (MTRAC) for Life Sciences Hub.  John is responsible for identifying potential Kickstart projects, coordinating the application, review, and award selection process, and assisting awardees to facilitate successful milestone completion.

John has over 10 years of experience in life science technology development in both academic and industry settings.  He has worked with multiple startup companies, including a local life science startup where he managed R&D and product development efforts.  He has also assisted with customer discovery and market identification.  Prior to joining Innovation Partnerships, John was an Applications Scientist for BioTek Instruments, where he served as a technical expert for the company’s customer base and provided support to sales and marketing teams.

John earned a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Michigan and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cell Biology at U of M Medical School.
