Surin Mong

Associate Director of Licensing

Surin works with University of Michigan researchers to develop, protect, and commercialize inventions in areas ranging from the physical sciences to emerging technology at the interface of therapeutics and artificial intelligence.

Prior to joining Innovation Partnerships, Surin spent nearly a decade in the Greater Boston biotech scene establishing and executing on patent portfolios underpinning multiple biopharmaceutical startups which have collectively raised over $500 million of venture capital investment to date. Most recently he was the Head of Intellectual Property and a member of the Corporate Development team at Dewpoint Therapeutics. Surin is a registered Patent Agent and received his PhD from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and BA from Cornell University.

Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Surin is happy to return home and serve the broader Michigan innovation ecosystem. Outside of work he is an avid runner, enjoys delving into personal finance topics, and searches for the next great non-fiction read.
