Michigan Open Source Software (MOSS) is a pilot initiative by Innovation Partnerships to comprehensively support open source software projects through education, promotion & community management, funding, facilitating OSS-based industry collaborations, and compliance assistance.

Community management
Successful open source projects need a roadmap for promotion & community management. We have curated short- and long-term engagements to help you think through how to grow your user and contributor communities. Email UMichOpenSourceSoftware@umich.edu to learn more.
- Open source digital discovery (4-8 week engagement)
- Your project will be paired with a digital discovery intern to help your articulate your project’s value propositions for different user & contributor communities and to develop a product roadmap for your open source project.
- Schedule a community management workshop (2-4 hour engagement)
- We will guide you through a brainstorming session to identify key action items to grow your OSS project’s community. The brainstorming sessions are modeled after Mozilla Science Lab’s Open Canvas.
