Celebrating MTRAC Advanced Transportation Alumni! Dr. Mojtaba Akhavan-Tafti presents at Tech Talk 2022

Congratulations to Dr. Mojtaba Akhavan-Tafti, a 2020 MTRAC Advanced Transportation awardee, on his recent Tech Talk 2022: “Adaptable Powerful Transformative Solar Solutions”, which provides an engaging overview of the global energy industry and its impact on global warming. Dr. Akhavan-Tafti summarizes the key challenges required to transform global energy production into a clean energy future as he launches his startup, where he is both joining and driving the clean energy revolution. His startup company, APT Solar Solutions, brings a new technology that provides a novel option to traditional solar energy generation to market in 2023.

The journey began in August of 2020 when Dr. Akhavan-Tafti was awarded an MTRAC Advanced Transportation award for his translational research commercialization project focused on 3D Solar Modules: High Power Density Solar Modules Designed for Charging and other applications. The MTRAC Advanced Transportation Program is a competitive grant program that enables researchers to accelerate early-stage high-potential mobility technology through technology and commercialization milestones to further market adoption readiness. This program provides a one-year supported jump start through a team of mentors, licensing team, and other entrepreneurial advisors. We wish Dr. Akhavan-Tafti and his start-up team at APT Solar much continued success!

MTRAC Advanced Transportation is housed at Innovation Partnerships at the University of Michigan and is sponsored by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.  It is a statewide program with 4 additional hubs designed to support translational research in key technology areas and supports projects from all institutions of higher education, hospital systems, and nonprofit research centers.
