As Director of Ventures, Dave oversees the creation of new start-up companies based on technologies invented and developed at U-M. In this role, he administers resources to build, launch and grow new ventures, including U-M’s mentor-in-residence program, two MTRAC translational grant hubs and the Accelerate Blue Fund.
Before joining U-M, Dave was President and COO of Gema Diagnostics, a venture-backed molecular diagnostics company that sought to improve in vitro fertilization outcomes. Prior to Gema, Dave co-founded and was Vice President of U-M spin-out Avidimer Therapeutics. He consulted for ANGLE Technology, a venture investment and management consulting firm focused on life sciences and tech opportunities in the US and UK, and Deloitte Consulting, where he was on the Strategic Advisory Team for the firm’s High Tech Industry Practice.
Dave holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, where he was a Samuel Zell Scholar. Dave serves on the Deal Flow Council for the Michigan Biomedical Venture Fund, the Advisory Board for the Pinkert Acceleration Fund and the Internal Advisory Committee for the BioInnovations in Brain Cancer Initiative.
